You don’t have to travel to Detroit to become part of Motown’s gala 50th anniversary next year. Fans are invited to upload their own photos of themselves standing in front of the famed “Hitsville U.S.A.” headquarters established in the two-story house by founder Berry Gordy 50 years ago, with lucky winners receiving valuable prizes.

The contest marks the Dec. 9 U.S. release of Motown: The Complete No. 1’s, a 10-CD box set from Universal Music Enterprises, featuring over 200 classic songs from 50 Motown artists that topped charts around the world, plus a 100-page photo booklet with rare images and an introduction by Smokey Robinson.

The box set comes housed in a jaw-dropping package that is a replica of the original Motown offices, “Hitsville U.S.A.,” on 2648 West Brand Boulevard in Detroit, MI, where the building still stands as the internationally renowned Motown Museum. Each CD in the collection features images of Motown artists standing in front of the famed house.

The uploaded pictures will then be displayed in a gallery section on the website, making everyone who participates part of Motown’s second 50 years, with the lucky winners chosen at random from the entries.

The first prize winner will receive a copy of Motown: The Complete No. 1’s autographed by Berry Gordy himself, while the others selected at random will get complete sets of The Definitive Collection CDs by various Motown artists.

Motown celebrates its 50th anniversary with a series of individual releases and promotions.
