The judicial stay on immediate evictions of hotel residents is not enough for the Hip-Hop Caucus, Up For Democracy, and the Survivors and Allies of Katrina Survivors.

On December 14th at 11:00 A.M. the Hip-Hop Caucus, Up For Democracy, and the Survivors and Allies of Katrina Survivors will rally at FEMA, 500 C St. S. W. and present the demands of the People’s Hurricane Relief Fund & Oversight Coalition’s Survivors Assembly.

We must protest – 1.) FEMA’s persistent and pernicious abdication from responsibility to provide a comprehensive Housing Plan for the Survivors, - 2.) FEMA’s failure to engage the people in the decision making process. – 3.) and FEMA”S depleting resources for the reconstruction be directing them to corporate profit, rather than the needs of the survivors.

No hotel resident should be forced to leave until FEMA provides viable and specific alternative housing. FEMA has the resources and the responsibility to provide housing for the evacuees.

FEMA must pay for and make available the thousands of trailers which lie empty where survivors have no alternative shelter and so survivors can return to restore their own homes.

We must march to Congress on the day of the final hearing on the response to Katrina, to let our Representatives know that there must be accountability for Human Rights violations and government misconduct which cost lives and undermined the health and dignity of the most vulnerable and that Congress must pass HR 4197 to release Section 8 vouchers and for Community Development Grants for Rebuilding.

We must march to hold President Bush to his commitment to spend whatever it takes and to enable ALL survivors to come home.

We must let the government and the public know that the displaced will not disappear.

Their demands will remain on the National Radar until we have accountability and justice for ALL survivors.

If you are in the area:

Date:                   Wednesday, December 14, 2005

Time:                   11:00 a.m.

Place:                  FEMA - 500 C Street S.W. Washington, D.C. 20472

Protesters will gather at L''ENFANT PLAZA METRO STATION at 10:000 a.m.

Add your voice to the call for accountability and justice for Katrina Survivors!
