Back before hip-hop and rap turned women into ho’s and biatch’s. Back before grandmothers are only 30 years old and when kids could run the streets without to much fear of getting capped; there was Motown. It was a turbulent time but music filled the air waves and the hearts of many of us with thoughtful soul sounds.

The memories of block parties and a friendly game of craps and a lil drink of Night Train or Thunder Bird in Kool-Aid; are things a lot of you are probably saying ‘What?’ to. But believe me it was a time to be had and the memory of that time is unforgettable.

Cleopatra Jones and Super Fly were the ‘super hero’s’. A night of clubbin’ ended in your dark ‘crib’ with some Marvin Gaye or Barry White on the stereo and maybe a ‘joint’ or two.

‘Mothers Day’ came once a month; and ‘gangsta’ was a Cadillac Eldorado with 3 inch ''Port a Walls'', spinners (wire basket wheels), a padded top with a diamond shaped rear window and ‘rabbit ear’ antennas.

Playing spades or chess on the stoop, just chilling and listening to Motown sounds; you knew that at least all was right in your world.

Converse All Stars where the ‘gym’ shoe and at Easter you would get a new pair of Bally’s to match your suit.

This is the Motown era I remember and this album brings all those memories back. Granted Motown has a deeper history than the era I have described, but this is the Motown I remember and the era of my life that this album invokes.

On May 24th all these memories will come back with a hip-hop beat. Motown Remixed will be released and this much anticipated drop will surely educate some of the younger people on what love and respect is.

Back to the day when your woman was someone that you respected and did not care to show love for. Back to when you better not let your grandmother or one of her friends hear you talking like they do now about any woman. The memories this album brings, along with the updated beats is something that we all need.

The track by Marvin Gaye ‘ Let’s Get It On’ brings back memories of the man in the ‘sparkle’ cap and blue jean shirt pleading to his lover. The memories in these tracks are so amazing and the new beats fit so well to ‘update’ these Motown classics.

Not only Marvin Gaye but Smokie Robinson, The Temptations, Gladys Knight & The Pips’, Eddie Kendricks, Undisputed Truth, Edwin Starr, Diana Ross & The Supremes, all classic Motown. And don’t over look Rick James, Rare Earth, the Jackson 5 and the Motown genius himself Stevie Wonder grace this ‘memory packed’ album set to today’s beats.

Remixed by some of the best producers that have brought many of today’s hip-hop and rap artists to star status.

Hopefully this is just the start of an on going updating of Motown’s catalog. This project is totally impressive.

If you need a lil proof here are 2 tracks for you to listen to, and hopefully if you are old enough you will also be blessed with memories of that time. And if you are not old enough to have memories, let these ‘new’ remixed versions of these songs introduce you to one of the most exciting times in music history, the Motown era.
