Known by his fans as DJ Iggy Smallz; Ignatius Motshwane was tragically killed in an auto accident on Saturday the 11th of December 2004. At the time of Iggy's death he was manager of music on South Africa's biggest and most popular radio station. Being a producer Iggy worked with many South African hip-hop acts including, Bongo Muffin, Boom Shaka, TK, Glen Lewis, Revolutions and many more artists.

Ignatius Motshwane, aka DJ Iggy Smallz, was on his way home from a gig in Botswana when his car collided head-on with a Jeep at Zeerust in the North West Province.

A woman and a child traveling with Motshwane were taken to the Zeerust Hospital in a critical condition.

Insp Thabo Makhafola, a police spokesman for the North West, said a white Mercedes-Benz driven by Motshawne had collided with the Jeep between Zeerust and Botswana Road about 1.30pm.

"When the cars collided, they both burst into flames. Motshwane, a woman in the front seat of his car and the man in the jeep were burnt beyond recognition.

"A woman and a child who were sitting in the back of the Mercedes were rushed to hospital in a critical condition," Makhafola said.

Makhafola said the names of the other people could not be released because police were trying to contact their next of kin. Oscar "Oskido" Mlangeni, a Yfm DJ and friend of Motshwane, said he was devastated by his death.

"I still cannot believe it. Just last week we were talking about a collaboration we were hoping to do next year." he said.

"He put Yfm where it is today and his death is another big loss to the industry," he said. (Some content courtesy of Mercury)
