VH1 Soul presents “Mary J. Day” on Tuesday, December 18 beginning at 7AM.* Known as the “Queen of Hip Hop and R&B,” Mary J. Blige is taking over VH1 Soul with over six hours of music videos and special programming. Programming throughout “Mary J. Day” will include the following:

“Soul Story: Mary J. Blige,” premiering at 7AM*, a chronological video celebration of the career of Mary J. Blige.

This special hour of the BBC original documentary, "SOUL DEEP: The Story of Black Popular Music “From Ghetto to Fabulous," premiering at 10AM*, features a never-seen before interview by Mary J. Blige who speaks candidly about her journey from ghetto to fabulous.  Her music represents the fusion of R&B and hip-hop and completes the journey that started 50 years ago with the emergence of the early soul sounds of Ray Charles and ends with black R&B artists’ domination of the charts today.

“Urban Soul,” premiering at 11AM*, is a two-hour documentary that explores the groundbreaking journey through contemporary American music culture with a combination of rare archival footage and thought-provoking interviews with the greatest performers, producers, musicians and commentators of the genre.

“Life & Rhymes of Mary J. Blige,” premiering at 1PM*, is a 30-minute biographical series that takes viewers deep inside the mind of Mary J. Blige. The series will feature Mary at the top of the hip-hop game telling viewers stories behind her lyrics.

* All times ET/PT
