Georgia Jackson has died of natural causes. She was 86 years old.

To her great credit, she raised two righteous revolutionaries whose actions will impact our historical liberation struggle for generations to come.

Martyred at a very young age -- Jonathan at 17, George, 29 -- their legacy inspired Black August, a revolutionary phenomenon that continues to grow and spread to all parts of the globe in commemoration of our revolutionary movements and freedom fighters.

Georgia Jackson will be buried at Mt. Vernon, Illinois next to her sons and other kin.

May she rest in peace.

Statement by

Prof. Charles Simmons

Detroit

“I recall meeting Mrs. Jackson at the United Nations when I was a correspondent there for Muhammad Speaks Newspaper in the early 1970s prior to George Jackson's assassination. She had come to seek support from the world body to prevent his murder by the authorities, which they both had predicted.  She found no support from the UN, which continues to hide behind the barrier erected by the US and Britain which only allows grievances to be brought by nations rather than individuals. This is a reminder of our need to begin the fight anew for a new movement for human rights that respects individuals in spite of the western powers.“

*Her son George Jackson was known as one of the “Soledad Brothers.” Very important and interesting history behind this souljah.

Her son Jonathan Jackson was killed in the Marin County Courthouse in an attempt to rescue his brother.

Both brothers were killed and you can read the history and accounts of their deaths HERE.
