Government assassinations of cultural icons: an interview wit'' U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney by Minister of Information JR of the POCC

Minister of Information JR interviewed Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney when she visited the Bay Area recently.

The Counter Intelligence Program in its present day form was created in part by former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover in his fight against the politics and influence of Marcus Garvey, an organizer from Jamaica who was uniting Black people across continents to do for ourselves in this white supremacist capitalist order from 1916 until he was deported in 1927. Other Black leaders who advocated resistance to this government and Black self-determination, over decades, were taken out of circulation one way or another.

The FBI and other agencies of the U.S. government are responsible for the assassinations of people like El Hajj Malik Shabazz, Martin Luther King Jr., Chairman Fred Hampton Sr,, Treasurer Lil'' Bobby Hutton, Field Marshall George Jackson, Deputy Minister of Defense Bunchy Carter, Chairman Jon Huggins, Tookie Williams and more and are also responsible for trumping charges on people like Imam Jamil Al-Amin, Mumia Abu Jamal, Sekou Odinga, Hugo Pinell, Ruchell Magee, the Angola 3, the Move 9, the Queens 2, the Omaha 2, the New York 3, Marshall Eddie Conway, Romaine Chip Fitzgerald, Mutulu Shakur, Sundiata Acoli, Jerry Odinga Dunnigan, Aaron Patterson, Leonard Peltier and are stealing years of their lives from them currently.

This was one of my favorite POCC Radio: Block Report interviews because I know that U.S. Congressman Cynthia McKinney speaks to a wider audience than I do due to the fact that she speaks as a member of the United States Congress. Check her out as she exposes U.S. government involvement in the assassinations of legendary Black cultural icons such as Tupac Shakur (2Pac) , Notorious B.I.G. aka Christopher Wallace, Paul Robeson, Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix ...

JR: You are introducing legislation to open the government files on Tupac Shakur (2Pac). Can you tell us what that campaign is about and why you are trying to open the FBI files on Tupac Shakur?

Cynthia: I have two bills that seek to open government files: One of them is on Martin Luther King Jr.; it's the Martin Luther King Jr. Records Release Act. And the other one is the Tupac Shakur Records Release Act. Cointelpro, the Counter Intelligence Program, has been my thing - I''m a student of Cointelpro - and I think that you are familiar with the newspaper reports that talked about the surveilance of Hip Hop artists today, no matter where they may be around the country and no matter where they go. So it was in the Miami newspaper, it was in the New York Times and it may even have been in the Los Angeles Times.

One of the things that is happening on the West Coast or that happened was the whole Biggie Smallz thing, where members of the LAPD were implicated in his murder. What we have done as a result of my interest in Cointelpro is to look at the treatment of cultural icons, because we know that cultural icons can make a mass movement.

And so we started out with Paul Robeson because you know, of course, that his family sued the federal government because of MK Ultra and his murder, his death/murder. Paul Robeson didn''t die a natural death, Bob Marley didn''t, Tupac didn''t and Jimi Hendrix didn''t. And so what we wanted to do was to look at the life, the surveillance and the murder of these individuals.

And we know that there are FBI files on Tupac, and we want them opened. Of course, I have a very close relationship with his mother, who doesn''t want to have that dredged up again, but we are his fans, and we need to know the truth and we also need to know what the federal government knows about what happened to him on that fateful night in Las Vegas.
