Federal Authorities will post a $1 million dollar reward for Black Liberation Army member Joanne Chesimard aka Assata Shakur; aunt of the slain west coast hip-hop rap icon Tupac Shakur.

After being convicted of the murder of a State Trooper in 1973, Assata escaped from Clinton Correctional Institution for Women in Hunterdon County in 1979.

She has lived in Cuba since.

In a report ‘Country Reports on Terrorism 2004’ released by the State Dept. Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism; Fidel Castro’s government has received bad reviews for not handing over Assata and other political prisoners to authorities. The government has charged that these are terrorist and have been charged with terrorist act’s, so Cuba must support terrorism since they will not turn them over.

Along with the announcement of the reward for Assata, her name will be added to the FBI's domestic terrorist list.

A news conference is scheduled for later today (Monday May 2) and we will up-date with any further information.
