Cavalier Daily opinion columnist Josh Levy, has an article today titled ‘Baseless accusations’. The article is in reference to Rep. Cynthia McKinney, a Georgia Democrat.

Apparently Mr. Levy is a republican who seems to not understand the state of race relations in this country.

That aside his remarks on the late great hip-hop cultures top selling rap artist, Tupac Shakur (2Pac) is what is really ‘Baseless accusations’.

While attacking Congresswoman McKinney in his article Mr. Levy mentions one of her current house bills. H.R. 4968, the Tupac Shakur Records Release Act.

Mr. Levy says in his article “The bill declares that "all government records related to the life and death of Tupac Amaru Shakur should be preserved for historical and governmental purposes." This will "enable the public to become fully informed about the history surrounding his life and death." Are we honestly paying our members of Congress to publicize for the late Tupac?”

No Mr. Levy we are looking to them to provide truthful answers to questions that surround the death of one of Americas best know icons in the hip-hop culture.

Mr. Levy should visit the FBI freedom of information site at http://foia.fbi.gov/foiaindex/shakur_t.htm and read about how the rap icon Tupac Shakur (2Pac) and other rap musicians, like fellow hip-hop icon Eric ‘Eazy-E’ Wright; in the Los Angeles area were threatened with death in extortion attempts by the Jewish Defense League (JDL).

The case of murder or assassination of Tupac Shakur is still unsolved 10 years after his death. The point is we all know the police watch and keep records on rap and hip-hop artists – especially those who have outspoken political views and family ties to other ‘warriors’ in the struggle for freedom.

Mr. Levy also implies that “The bill also provides some wholly unnecessary pork by calling for the creation of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts to be constructed in Stone Mountain, Georgia -- conveniently located within McKinney's district.”

Well it is evident that Mr. Levy is not a fan of hip-hop or Tupac Shakur or he would know that The Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts (TASCA) is already open and yes it is in Stone Mountain Georgia, but it is located there because that is the home of the mother of Tupac Shakur, Afeni Shakur.

The bill states in SEC. 2. FINDINGS, DECLARATIONS, AND PURPOSES.

(b) Purposes- The purposes of this Act are--

(1)              to provide for the creation of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Records Collection at the National Archives and a second repository at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Mr. Levy should be able to comprehend “a second repository at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia.” That means a second copy of the records would be housed at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia, not that anyone wants the government to ‘construct’ anything – just provide the truth and a copy of all the records they have associated with the late hip-hop culture rap artist.

This article of Mr. Levy’s is so bias that with just the mis information about Tupac makes the rest of his rant (or article which ever you prefer) baseless.

If a so called columnist is going to take shots at a well loved Congresswoman he should at least get his facts straight instead of going on and looking foolish to the many who actually know what is going on. The point of the House Resolution is to obtain the truth and to know what the government knows; and that is not to much to ask. After all it is our tax money and they have the information already so just let us see it and maybe it can shed light on resolving the assassination of one of the iconic figures in modern urban and hip-hop culture Tupac Shakur (2Pac).
